The Greenhouse is a great way to get Berries and veggies, but it is such a pain to go out and collect from all the plots, and then there is the fertilizer… Another pain.
Thanks to the abilities of the robot, you can automate the whole greenhouse process
This post will walk you through the steps. If you follow these steps you will be very happy with your results
The first thing you need to do is lay out some crop plots and set them up
You will be setting your crop plots 6 high like this. Make sure there is room between them for the robot.
Start by laying out your first level. It is easier to move one than it is to move several.
Once you have them layed out, put some seeds and fertilizer in your inventory.
go to each crop plot and set them up
To set up your crop plot, you start by opening the crop plot inventory. On your side of the inventory, highlight a piece of fertilizer and push the right button down and select add as input (remote). This adds the fertilizer as an input to the crop plot. Next, in the lower right corner, ENABLE Automated Deposit AND Withdrawll.
Now your crop plot is set up. Repeat process for all crop plots. Remember, we are only dealing with the first level of crop plots at this point.
As you set up the Crop plot, you are telling the Robot to remove the berries and add fertilizer.
The Bot is programmed to go around and collect berries, place them in your Fridges, and put Fertilizer into the crop plots
You are now going to want to set up your fridges to receive the Crops. You will want a minimum of 3 fridges or so per crop type.
You will want to go in and set the inputs on the fridges. This tells the bot what to put in the fridge. Now repeat for all your fridges. You will want a few fridges of each resource, and 5 or more for your mejoberries.
Once your crop plots are set up, you will want to finish by automating the fertilizing process. To do this, fill a few vaults with fertilizer and set the boxes to ENABLE Automated Withdrawal.
Now your Bot(s) know where to get fertilizer when a crop plot needs it. Your crop plots should already be set to accept 10 stacks of Fertilizer. You will want a dung beetle or two to produce your fertilizer. They eat poop and convert it to Oil and Fertilizer. They need to be by animals to collect their poop. Once it is full, take the fertilizer and put it in your fertilizer vaults in your greenhouse
Now you need to set up the bot to make this all work. First, you want to set the inputs on the bot. Do this by selecting the item in your inventory push the right joystick and add input to remote. Set the number of slots you want the bot(s) to fill. This is usually 80, for a full fridge. I have a seed fridge where the bots put seeds, in this fridge I allow 5 stacks of each kind of seed. Then I have seeds to replant
Once the inputs are set, put the bot in Butler mode and they will collect the resources and put them into the fridges you set up.
Give the bots some time, and check back on the fridges, resources should be accumulating now
remember that the Bot is very glitchy and temperamental. you will need to check on them once in awhile and get them unstuck.
To do this, Switch them to follow mode and get them to move, then set them back to Butler mode.
The Bots will only work when rendered, so when you are away from base they do not work.
I have found that Placing crop plots around the perimiter helps keep the bots from stareing out the windows. I also found to not have nooks and crannies for them to get stuck in. Make the layout smooth. Location is real important, as they work when rendered, so put your greenhouse by where you do your work the most.
